Top 5 Conferences & Coaching for Executive Pastors

Having passion for a cause is key to leading it well, but passion alone won’t take care of all the complexities involved in leading a church. Executive Pastors understand the many trials and triumphs that come with leadership. This role, however, is also unique in many of its challenges. That’s why it’s important to seek training that is designed specifically for XPs and those in similar roles.

Here are my top five conferences and coaching for executive pastors.

  1. Executive Pastors’ Summit

The Executive Pastors’ Summit is the largest annual gathering of Christian church executive pastors in the country. It’s an “invitation only” event that is primarily attended by executive pastors affiliated with the Restoration Movement, Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. Though the 2020 dates have yet to be released, the Executive Pastors’ Summit is typically in January and takes place in the southwestern part of the country.

  • Cost Estimate: $199 in 2019
  • Dates/Location: TBD for 2020
  1. XPastor’s XP Seminar

Though the 2020 XPastor’s XP Seminar doesn’t take place until February, enrollment began June 1. This highly-anticipated seminar sold out last year, and is continuing with its tradition of inspiring keynotes from national Christian leaders. A few names who will be speaking at February’s seminar include Dan Reiland, Executive Pastor at 12Stone Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia; Bryan L. Carter, Senior Pastor of Concord Church in Dallas; and Luke Norsworthy, Senior Minister of Westover Hills Church in Austin.

  • Cost: $850 in 2019
  • Dates: Feb 19-20, 2020
  • Location: Dallas, TX

  1. The Church Network’s National Conference

The Church Network kicks off its 63rd National Conference next month, and there’s still time to register. This three-day event promises to be a thought-provoking one where attendees can network with church leaders, find a mentor, and a preview of emerging technology. The Church Network will also provide opportunities for leaders to begin certification requirements and give access to educational resources.

  • Cost: $789 for TCN registration with additional costs for FastTrack sessions
  • Dates: July 11-14, 2019
  • Location: Charlotte Convention Center, Charlotte, NC
  1. Vanderbloemen Executive Pastor Coaching

Limited to 25 attendees, this specialized coaching session takes place round-table style with veteran ministry leaders Tim Stevens, Blue Van Dyke, Todd Winslow, and William Vanderbloemen. Though Christian workshops and conferences are great experiences for growth, it’s arguable that smaller coaching environments, like Vanderbloemen Executive Pastor Coaching, encourage the maximum amount of learning and mentorship to grow you, your team, and your church.

  • Cost: $2,800 by June 14
  • Dates: Sept 16-20, 2019
  • Location: TBD
  1. Leadership Network’s Leader Groups for Executive Pastors

With this unique leader experience, executive pastors will meet three times over the course of a year and a half for three-day mentoring experiences. The Leader Group includes a network of 12 executive pastors with a vast amount of experience in ministry leadership across various networks. Individual tuition covers the program and all meals for each three-day event. Note: The 2019-2020 session is already underway. Consider contacting them for future sessions.

  • Cost: $8,000
  • Dates: Various meetings over a year and a half period
  • Location: Varies

As an executive pastor, having a growth-mindset communicates that you care deeply about effectively stewarding and developing the church. By attending one of these Christian leadership conferences or coaching sessions, you’re able to learn from other leaders in your field while also growing in your knowledge of God. For you, your senior pastor, and your church members, that’s a win-win.
